My name is Casey I am a lived experience peer support worker foster house.
I grew up around violence and trauma and developed my addiction at a young age. I made poor choices and spent large amounts of time in institutions, becoming homeless, isolated and in very poor emotional, physical, spiritual, and mental health.
4 years and 8 months ago I made the best choice I’ve ever made and went to rehab. Once I finished rehab I continued to do fortnightly therapy, N.A meetings, and found employment. I changed every part of myself that no longer served me, my children and society. I found parts of myself that I liked and nurtured these qualities and began practicing my principles. I learnt to love myself and took responsibility for my life. Today I am a present father who shows up and continues to make daily amends to my past behaviors.
My past experiences have taken me to very dark places unfortunately I’ve lost my entire family tree to addiction and suicide both parents two Brothers and my sister.
Since being in recovery I’ve healed this pain and have learned to grieve in a healthy way I truly relate to these men as I’ve walked in their shoes and my main focus is to help them find direction peace and love.
